New network of routes to open up Welsh Valleys
A hundred miles of new walking and cycling routes will see the South Wales Valleys radically enhanced, bringing the National Cycle Network to within two miles of a further 636,000 people.
The network of routes will result in improved walking and cycling opportunities for people both living in and visiting the area.

The Wave

Copenhagen '09: Join The Wave to Stop Climate Chaos
On 5 December, days ahead of the UN’s climate summit in Copenhagen, thousands of people from across the UK will flow through the streets of London and Glasgow as part of ‘The Wave’. The Wave will be the UK’s biggest ever demonstration in support of action on climate change and will demand that the UK government quits using dirty coal; protects the world’s poorest; and acts fairly and quickly.

Comber Greenway

Award-winning greenway remains under threat
The hugely popular Comber Greenway in Northern Ireland has just scooped first prize in the Mobility Category of the European Greenways Awards. Unfortunately, the future of the Comber Greenway remains in the balance as proposals for a bus rapid transit (BRT) to run along the route are still under discussion. Sustrans supports the need for improved public transport but believes it should not be at the expense of existing and future levels of walking and cycling.
